LG refrigerators use the LT-series cartridges — LT500P, LT600P, LT700P and LT800P — plus the parallel ADQ part numbering that causes half the confusion in LG filter shopping. Two things to know before ordering. LG machines carry two valid part numbers for the same cartridge (an LT code and an ADQ code — e.g. LT600P / ADQ36006101), so a listing under either number is often the same part. And in 2025 LG introduced a notch design change on some tank-fed models: cartridges cut for the new notch seat fine in updated bays but older-style generics can fail to lock. Which filter does my LG refrigerator use?

Nearly all LG fridges with internal filtration use one of four LT-series cartridges — LT500P, LT600P, LT700P or LT800P — chosen by model family rather than by year. The LT600P covers the largest fleet (138 LG-badge models plus 366 Kenmore twins in our library). Each LT code has an ADQ service twin (LT600P = ADQ36006101), so a parts listing under either number is usually the same cartridge. Type your model number into the finder for the exact variant — including the 2025 notch flag where it applies.

What is the 2025 LG notch design change?

On tank-fed models produced from 2025 onward, LG re-cut the cartridge locking notch. Cartridges manufactured to the new spec seat in both old and updated bays, but some older-pattern generics won’t lock into the new bay — the cartridge slips or pops free under line pressure. If your LG was built in 2025 or later, or a previous “compatible” cartridge stopped fitting after a bay service, check the notch note on your model page before reordering. This is a mechanical fit issue, not a chip or authentication change — LG has no RFID lock on any LT line.

My fridge is a Kenmore 795 — is that an LG filter?

Yes. The 795 prefix on a Kenmore model number means LG manufactured the unit for Sears, and the water filtration is pure LG — same LT-series bays. The famous mappings: Kenmore 46-9990 resolves to LT600P, and the 46-9956/9954 generation to the LT500P family. Our library tracks 608 Kenmore-LG twins. How often should an LG filter be replaced?

LG specifies a 6-month replacement cycle across the LT series, with capacity varying by cartridge — the LT600P family carries a higher gallon rating than the LT500P, which is why the same fridge family can list different numbers. The panel indicator counts elapsed time, not gallons. Ice-heavy or hard-water households should shorten to 5 months; the first symptom of an exhausted LG cartridge is usually slow dispensing flow as the media compacts, followed by chlorine taste in the ice.

Are ADQ and LT part numbers the same filter?

Almost always yes. LG runs two numbering systems on one cartridge: the LT code is the retail-facing number, the ADQ code the service/parts-department code. LT600P and ADQ36006101 refer to the same part, LT700P pairs with ADQ36006102, LT500P with ADQ73310908. The trap is listings that quote an ADQ number with a different suffix generation — suffixes like -01 versus -02 can indicate packaging or revision changes. Match by your refrigerator model in the finder and both codes resolve to the same verified cartridge.
